Music of the Big Top

Maybury Webb Creative Studios are delighted to collaborate with The Historic Cocoa Village Playhouse to bring back to the public, yesteryears MUSIC OF THE BIG TOP. Musical Director and Conductor William H Yoh, Jr. has a long-time history playing in circus bands around the country and for 19 years has been performing at the playhouse. 18 months ago, he conceived the idea to bring to the playhouse a concert of timeless classics which we remember as part of the great circuses which toured the world.  As the circus world has evolved and changed dramatically over the last few years, involving some famous circuses closing down, this concert will capture the essence of what really made the circus “The Greatest Show on Earth”.

Director and Producer Karen Maybury Webb was brought up in the UK in an entertainment family and had relatives who work at the great Blackpool Tower Circus, the setting for Jerry Lee Lewis movie “Funny Bones”. Karen’s personal association with the circus throughout her life and career make this project a very special and heartfelt one. As artistic Director Karen brings an artic and dynamic element to the show and will be featuring some young local talent and international circus stars “Rocco and Nova” known as Duo Gravity.

The show will run through Memorial Day weekend and appeal to all age groups, from those who want to a nostalgic trip down memory lane and also from an educational perspective the amazing music written and performed during the 1800-1900’s.

Roll up, roll up, this one off immersive musical experience is not to be missed!
