An Awesome Opportunity for incoming High School Students and young adults up to 22 years of age to perform in a hit Broadway musical on the King Center Stage! A four–week project with experienced professionals in a theatrical environment culminating in 3 performances of Swing! The Broadway Musical. Many roles are available for male and female actors, singers and dancers. Student musicians are also welcome to audition to be in the LIVE orchestra ON STAGE with the performers.
PROGRAM DATES: JUNE 22 – JULY 19 FROM 12:30 PM – 4:30 PM
PERFORMANCE DATES: JULY 17,18 & 19
FRIDAY – SATURDAY AT 7:30 PM & SUNDAY AT 2 PM
AN EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE
The four-week hands on training is led by industry professionals with expertise in creative and artistic direction, choreography, musicianship and various performing arts. All levels of ability are encouraged to audition, whether beginning or advanced. Student musicians are also invited to audition and will be featured on stage as part of the orchestra. They will work cooperatively to create a professional quality production of Swing! The Broadway Musical.
Each student will gain knowledge and experience in singing, dancing, musical theatre, and will have the opportunity to perform with professional musicians. Students will learn how to manage ticket sales, maintain schedules, and process feedback, all while enhancing their instrumental, vocal, and dance abilities through challenging and exciting musical numbers. The project also includes master classes with surprise industry guests. This production of SWING! will help students to develop their talents as performers in a historical and cultural context that honors diversity through the medium of performing arts.
All auditions and training will be held at the King Center for the Performing Arts on Monday, June 22nd at 12:30 pm. Rehearsals begin after the auditions on the 22nd. It is the responsibility of the participant to attend all rehearsals, classes and performances.
EARLY BIRD REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN!
Registration fee $25 before Friday, June 12th. $35 after this date. The registration fee will be applied to the cost of the project. Fees are non-refundable.
