Job Opening- Scenic Builder

The Playhouse is looking for an experienced SCENIC BUILDER. This position works directly with the Production Designers, Technical Director(s) and under the leadership of the Lead Set Builder, in the construction of scenic elements and props for all mainstage and STARS program productions. Must have strong carpentry skills, ability to work independently and efficiently. Experience with metal fabrication, furniture building, puppetry, and foam work, and theatrical rigging are all plusses. This is a part time position, working on a rotating schedule, with 3-4 weeks of construction time prior to the opening of each production, averaging 40 hours per week, Monday though Friday, 9am-5pm, alternating with 3-4 weeks of off time while each production is running.

Applicant must be a safety conscious, self-motivated team player, capable of lifting 75 pounds, and be able to work in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to perform in pressure situations, fix problems immediately and be able to meet stringent deadlines. Qualified applicants will ideally have a background in theatrical, theme-park, television, or exhibit construction, but interior design and architecture may apply. Double or Single purchase fly system and stage rigging experience is preferred. We are looking for someone who is both an enthusiastic team player and can also take ownership of the projects they work on.

Support and Prayers for Scott Evans

We are reaching out to our community to help raise funds to support one of our Playhouse performers and family members, Scott Evans. He is 47 years old and has been married for almost 20 years to Alison Evans, brother of Richard Evans, and cousin of costume designer Dan Hill. Scott has an aggressive stage 4 kidney cancer that is rapidly spreading. He has chosen hospice over chemotherapy.

Scott is unable to work and the bills are mounting up. Alison is out of sick leave time, so when she needs to take Scott to medical appointments, etc. she receives no income. Scott & Alison need our help now. His family has set a GoFundMe page to receive any donations.

An account was also established at LAUNCH Federal Credit Union to help Scott and Alison pay their everyday bills. If you are able to help them in any way, you can just reference Scott Evans benefit account at any branch location.
